First application of our exposed die molding for an optical linear array sensor used in an automotive power-steering application
In 1997 we developed a functional package for an optical linear array.
Because of very accurate positioning requirements in the X, Y and Z (co-planarity) directions in the final application, the relatively long length of the optical array and to reduce the stress induced by the assembly welding process, a custom package design with mounting lugs and stress relieve in the leads resulted. Although the volume manufacturing will continue for many more years, more than 30 million vehicles already rely for their power-steering on this functional optical linear array package.
