CEO update – an 'interesting' year for Sencio

For Sencio 2016 has certainly been a real rollercoaster of a ride, as we closed one chapter and started the next. The year began with finalizing our move to the Novio Tech Campus. This mainly involved moving our offices to our new home, but it also meant getting the new assembly space up to speed and re-certified.

Oliver Maiwald, CEO SencioOnce this was under control it was time for our opening, despite the building works still going on around us. In fact, it wasn’t until the autumn and the official opening of Building A that we could really say that all the distractions from the move had been dealt with. But it has definitely been worth it, and we are very happy in our new environment.

From a business perspective, this year has also been positive. We have been working hard to continue pushing the boundaries of functional packaging solutions for MEMS, opto-electronics, RF modules and sensors. This resulted in Sencio, along with the rest of the MRCyte team, winning an AMA Innovation Award. We have also been involved in European funded projects developing new technology for RF, including DAISY and PAMPA. This has clearly helped raise awareness of our capabilities and technologies in this key industrial market.

The outlook for 2017 looks good. Demand in the automotive sensor business is growing slightly. As part of our strategy to see how we can expand our solutions to meet the growing needs of system suppliers, we have been working on dedicated current sensing as well as power switching packages. These devices should help facilitate the change from traditional combustion engines to electrical cars. A move where we also see our gas sensor solutions playing a key role as we believe the fuel of the future will be mix of electrical power and hydrogen.

Just as I mentioned last year, I anticipate we will continue to live in interesting times for the next few years especially with Brexit and a new US president, but in the meantime I wish you all a peaceful Christmas and a good start for 2017.
