Chemiluminescence biochip platform
Diagnosis and management of complex diseases has typically required sophisticated diagnostic testing in specialized laboratories. But people want more personalized treatment at the point of care. This requires new, cost effective, solutions that can be used by patients or caregivers at home, in hospitals, or even in areas without any laboratory infrastructure.
The Enzyre biochip platform project aims to develop a cheap, simple, small and applicable design for point of care diagnostics and disease management. A key element of the biochip platform is the integrated microfluidic cartridge which includes optical sensors and Enzyre’s proprietary chemiluminescence technology. Combining these different components in a single integrated platform, allows for the simultaneous measurement of multiple enzymatic reactions using a small volume of blood (100 µl).
Packaging requirements
Encapsulating the various sensors and precisely aligning the CMOS optical sensor with the open cavities of the reaction chambers of the microfluidic compartment, is the primary challenge for Sencio. This allows the accurate measuring of photons generated by the chemiluminescence process.
Using our glass on die technology allows a small glass plate to be glued on top of the optical area. Interconnection to the substrate is made by wire bonding and the overall system is molded using our exposed die (film assisted) molding technology, which leaves the glass lid free of molding compound.
